Danny Rose: Tottenham stars startling retirement comments are bordering on tragic, Ally McCoist says
Ally McCoist was left heartbroken by the recent comments from Tottenham defender Danny Rose, that he cant wait to get out of football due to the games failure to tackle racism. In an honest and open interview, England left-back Rose admitted he has had enough of football.Danny Rose has said he is sick of racism in football3

The 28-year-old has been victim of abuse throughout his career, and was most recently the target of racist chanting during Englands Euro 2020 qualifier at Montenegro.UEFA hascharged Montenegro with racist behaviour, but Rose does not expect a significant punishment and has criticised governing bodies for not doing enough to combat racism in the game.In comments published in several newspapers on Friday, Rose said: When countries only get fined what I probably spend on a night out in London then what do you expect?“You see my manager [at Tottenham, Mauricio Pochettino]get banned for two gamesfor just being confrontational against [referee] Mike Dean at Burnley – but a country can only get fined a little bit of money for being racist. It’s a bit of a farce.“So that’s where we’re at now in football. Until there’s a harsh punishment, there’s not much else we can expect.“How I programme myself is that I think I’ve got five or six more years left in football, and I just can’t wait to see the back of it. Roses comments come following series of high-profile cases of racial abuse of the football pitch this season.England stars Rose, Raheem Sterling and Callum Hudson-Odoi were all targets of racist chanting in Montenegro, while this week 19-year-old Juventus forward Moise Kean suffered abuse from Cagliari fans. But the incidents have not only happened on foreign soil with Sterling allegedly being racially abused by a group of Chelsea fansin December, while abanana was thrown in the direction of Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang during their north London derby victory over Tottenham in the same month. In February, there was also video footage of aWest Ham fan calling Liverpools Mohamed Salah a Muslim c***during a match at the London Stadium.Arsenal forward Aubameyang looks into the crowd in disbelief after seeing the banana land close to him back in December3

And talkSPORT host McCoist has backed Rose, saying its not right a player in his prime should be made to consider ending his career early.Speaking on Fridays Sports Breakfast, the former Scotland striker said: How sad is that?A man in the prime of his footballing career and already hes looking forward to the day its over.I find that bordering on tragic. He should be flying high, enjoying every game and every training session.Rose has been racially abused throughout his career3

I was a little bit hmm with his statement regarding he spends more on a night out in London than the fines, I dont think that was the cleverest thing to say. But, that said, I think he is absolutely spot on. Its horrendous [agreeing with Roses comments about fines being disproportionate]I saw him on Wednesday night at the opening of Tottenham new stadium and I was really impressed. I really, really like him as a player and he would certainly be in my starling XI for England.I just find it so sad that someone who should be enjoying themselves at the prime of his football career and life has said he cant wait for it to end.Its just not right.
