Ernesto Valverde has agreed a new contract with Barcelona until the end of the 2019/20 season, the LaLiga club have announced.The 55-year-old former Barca player took charge at the club in the summer of 2017 and guided them to a LaLiga and Copa del Rey double last season.

Real Madrid held the Catalans to a 1-1 draw at Camp Nou last week, with the return fixture at the Bernabeu to be played at the end of the month.Valverde, who spent two years at Camp Nou during his playing days, managed the likes of Espanyol, Olympiacos, Villarreal, Valencia and Athletic Club before taking the Barcelona job.
